Odin's gift - runes have had two meanings from the beginning of their existence.

The first is a direct written sign carrying specific information.

The second is the power assigned to them coming from the forces of nature and the gods. Runes are supposed to provide powerful support if you want to strengthen desirable traits or eliminate the effects of negative actions and traits.

Runes were considered magical items, they gave the ability to predict the future, cure diseases, and even resurrect the dead. The entire alphabet consists of 24 symbols and each of them has a different meaning. The appropriate order and interpretation of these symbols gives knowledge about the past, present and future.
